History & character.
Character
Der Plauer See ist mit 685 ha der prominenteste Stadtsee Brandenburg an der Havels. Er liegt im Verlauf der Unteren Havelwasserstraße und ist ein klassisches Flachgewässer mit großem Fischreichtum. Stadtteile Plaue (Westen) und Kirchmöser (Nordosten) liegen direkt am Ufer.
Water structure
Mittlere Tiefe ca. 4 m, max. 6,7 m – ein typischer eutropher Havel-See mit nährstoffreichem Wasser. Die Fahrrinne der Bundeswasserstraße verläuft mittig und bietet die wichtigsten Tiefenkanten. Schilfgürtel und Seerosenfelder am Süd- und Nordwestufer; Kies- und Sandbänke vor Plaue.
Nature & history
Bewirtschaftet wird der See von der Fischereischutzgenossenschaft "Havel" Brandenburg eG mit Sitz in Plaue. Plaue selbst ist seit dem Mittelalter Fischer- und Schifferort, das Schloss Plaue an der Westspitze ist ein bekanntes Wahrzeichen.
