History & character.
Character
Der Große Müllroser See ist mit 131 ha das größte stehende Gewässer im Naturpark Schlaubetal in der Stadt Müllrose, etwa 70 km östlich Berlins. Er wird von der Schlaube durchflossen, einem 20 km langen Salmoniden-Bach, der sich hier zu einem klassischen Tieflandsee aufweitet.
Water structure
Etwa 3 km lang, 600 m breit, durchschnittlich 8 m tief. Strukturreich mit Schilfzonen, Krautfeldern und einer Tiefenrinne im Süden. Klares Wasser durch die Schlaube-Speisung. Schöne naturnahe Uferbereiche, kleines Strandbad in Müllrose.
Nature & history
Seit dem Mittelalter Fischereirevier des Klosters Neuzelle. Heute Teil des Naturparks Schlaubetal mit besonderem ökologischen Wert. Die Fischerei Schneider aus Brieskow-Finkenheerd bewirtschaftet das Gewässer seit Generationen.

Spring
Water temperature rises slowly. Perch move into shallow bays, pike finish spawning. Best time: from mid-April along weed edges.
Summer
Warm and nutrient-rich. Predators bite early morning or evening. Night fishing for eel and catfish is most productive now.
Autumn
Pike and zander feed up for winter. Large soft swimbaits & a slow presentation get the big ones now.
Winter
Cold and clear. Target species in deeper troughs. Vertical jigging from the boat or a bottom rig at dusk give the best chances.
