History & character.
Character
Der Beetzsee erstreckt sich westlich von Brandenburg an der Havel als langgestreckter Havelsee. Mit seiner Fläche von 7,8 km² und zahlreichen Buchten bietet er abwechslungsreiche Uferzonen – von flachen Schilfgürteln bis zu bewaldeten Steilufern.
Water structure
Typisch für den Beetzsee sind die ausgedehnten Altarme am Westufer mit Tiefen bis 8 m. Der Grund wechselt zwischen sandigem Untergrund im Hauptbecken und schlammigen Bereichen in den Buchten. Krautfelder und Seerosenfelder bieten hervorragende Deckung für Raubfische. Die Kanten zwischen Flachwasser und den tieferen Rinnen sind erstklassige Ansitzplätze.
Nature & history
Der Beetzsee ist Teil der Brandenburger Havelseenkette und war historisch ein bedeutender Binnenschifffahrtsweg. Heute ist er vor allem als Regattastrecke bekannt – internationale Ruderwettbewerbe finden hier regelmäßig statt. Die Uferbereiche stehen teilweise unter Naturschutz und beherbergen seltene Wasservögel wie den Eisvogel.
