History & character.
Character
Der Lange See ist die 13 km lange, schlauchförmige Erweiterung der Dahme zwischen Grünau und Schmöckwitz im Berliner Südosten. Mit 280 ha Wasserfläche ist er einer der größten Seen Berlins, sein Erscheinungsbild aber eher ein gemächlich strömender Fluss als ein klassischer See.
Water structure
Etwa 200–600 m breit, max. 8,5 m tief. Strukturreich mit Schilfzonen, Steilkanten, Krautfeldern und Tiefenrinnen. Direkter Wasseraustausch mit der Dahme sorgt für leichte Strömung. Naturnahe Uferbereiche bei Schmöckwitz, urban bei Grünau.
Nature & history
Seit dem 19. Jh. beliebtes Wassersport- und Erholungsgebiet (Ruder-Olympia 1936 in Grünau). Die Köpenicker Fischervereinigung bewirtschaftet das Gewässer seit den 1950ern. Marändenbesatz seit den 1970ern als Besonderheit.

Water temperature rises slowly. Perch move into shallow bays, pike finish spawning. Best time: from mid-April along weed edges.
Summer
Warm and nutrient-rich. Predators bite early morning or evening. Night fishing for eel and catfish is most productive now.
Autumn
Pike and zander feed up for winter. Large soft swimbaits & a slow presentation get the big ones now.
Winter
Cold and clear. Target species in deeper troughs. Vertical jigging from the boat or a bottom rig at dusk give the best chances.
