Character
Schiffbarer Kanal zwischen Havel-Berlin/Sacrow und Havel-Ketzin; gerade verlaufend, mittlere Tiefe, durchgängig befischbar.
Water structure
12,5 km Länge, 30–50 m breit, max. 5 m, durchschnittlich 3,5 m. Sandige bis kiesige Sohle, Steinschüttungen an den Ufern, vereinzelt Krautfelder vor den Schleusen.
Nature & history
Ab 1874 als Havel-Abkürzung für die Schifffahrt um Potsdam gebaut, mehrfach erweitert; bis heute Teil der Bundeswasserstraße Untere Havel-Wasserstraße.

Water temperature rises slowly. Perch move into shallow bays, pike finish spawning. Best time: from mid-April along weed edges.
Summer
Warm and nutrient-rich. Predators bite early morning or evening. Night fishing for eel and catfish is most productive now.
Autumn
Pike and zander feed up for winter. Large soft swimbaits & a slow presentation get the big ones now.
Winter
Cold and clear. Target species in deeper troughs. Vertical jigging from the boat or a bottom rig at dusk give the best chances.
