History & character.
Character
Der Griebnitzsee liegt an der Grenze zwischen Berlin-Wannsee und Potsdam-Babelsberg. Mit nur 0,6 km² ist er ein kleiner, aber feiner Stadtsee mit Geschichte: Die einstige Grenze zwischen Ost und West verlief mitten durch das Gewässer. Heute bietet er mit seinen villengesäumten Ufern gepflegtes Angeln in historischer Kulisse.
Water structure
Der Griebnitzsee ist ein schmaler Rinnensee mit Tiefen bis 11 m. Der Grund ist sandig-kiesig mit guter Sichttiefe. Das Nordufer (Berliner Seite) hat Steganlagen und Bootshäuser, die Unterwasserstrukturen für Barsche schaffen. Das Südufer (Potsdamer Seite) ist parkartiger mit Seerosenfeldern. Die Verbindung zur Havel sorgt für Durchfluss.
Nature & history
Der Griebnitzsee wurde im Kalten Krieg durch die Berliner Mauer geteilt – das Südufer war Sperrgebiet. Die Villenkolonie Neubabelsberg am Südufer beherbergt das älteste Filmstudio der Welt (Studio Babelsberg). Die Truman-Villa an der Seepromenade war 1945 Schauplatz der Potsdamer Konferenz, die die Nachkriegsordnung Europas bestimmte.
