History & character.

Character

Mit 285 ha ist der Neuendorfer See der größte See der Märkischen Heide und ein zentrales Gewässer im Unterspreewald-Verbund. Die Spree durchfließt ihn von Süden nach Norden, was ihm eine natürliche Strömung und einen besonders artenreichen Fischbestand verleiht.

Water structure

Sehr flacher See mit nur ca. 3 m Maximaltiefe. Die mittige Fahrrinne der Spree bildet die wichtigste Strukturkante. Schilfgürtel und Seerosenfelder prägen die Ufer; das Westufer bei Alt Schadow hat einen kleinen Hafen mit Slipstelle. Im Sommer kann der See bei Hitze sauerstoffarm werden – frühe Morgenstunden sind dann Pflicht.

Nature & history

Bewirtschaftet wird der See seit Generationen von der Spreewaldfischerei Richter mit Sitz in Lübben. Tageskarten gibt es online über HEJFISH und vor Ort beim Fischer. Der See ist Teil des UNESCO-Biosphärenreservats Spreewald, was auch die Befahrungs- und Angelregeln prägt.
