History & character.
Character
Der Wernsdorfer See ist Teil des Dahme-Wasserstraßenverbundes östlich von Königs Wusterhausen. Er liegt zwischen Krossinsee, Seddinsee und dem Oder-Spree-Kanal und ist als Naturschutzgebiet (138 ha) sowie FFH-Gebiet ausgewiesen. Die offene Wasserfläche umfasst rund 75 ha.
Water structure
Sehr flacher See (durchschnittlich 1–2 m, max. 3 m), stellenweise stark verlandet. Ausgedehnte Schilfgürtel, Seerosenfelder und Schwimmblattzonen prägen das Bild. Ideales Habitat für Hecht und Schleie, dazu klassische Friedfisch-Strecken am offenen Wasser.
Nature & history
Nach Kriegsende 1945 wurde Teile des Sees mit Trümmer- und Aschematerial verfüllt – die Wasserfläche schrumpfte um ein Viertel. Heute ist das verlandete Areal wertvoller Lebensraum für Wasservögel. Der Verbindungskanal zur Dahme und zum Oder-Spree-Kanal macht den See bei Bootsanglern beliebt.
