Character
Der Plötzensee ist ein 8 ha großer Stadtsee im Bezirk Wedding (Berlin-Mitte). Er liegt im Volkspark Rehberge und ist Teil eines Naturschutzgebiets. Trotz urbaner Lage gilt er als ökologisch wertvoll und beherbergt einen überraschend guten Hecht- und Zanderbestand.
Water structure
Etwa 6 m maximale Tiefe, runde Form mit ca. 400 m Durchmesser. Schilfgesäumtes Ufer im Norden und Osten, sandige Badestrände im Süden und Westen. Klares, mesotrophes Wasser mit guter Sicht.
Nature & history
Der Plötzensee entstand in der letzten Eiszeit. Im Sommer ist er beliebter Berliner Badesee mit Strandbad. Die NS-Hinrichtungsstätte Plötzensee am Nordufer ist heute Gedenkstätte. Das Gewässer steht seit Jahrzehnten unter Naturschutz.

Water temperature rises slowly. Perch move into shallow bays, pike finish spawning. Best time: from mid-April along weed edges.
Summer
Warm and nutrient-rich. Predators bite early morning or evening. Night fishing for eel and catfish is most productive now.
Autumn
Pike and zander feed up for winter. Large soft swimbaits & a slow presentation get the big ones now.
Winter
Cold and clear. Target species in deeper troughs. Vertical jigging from the boat or a bottom rig at dusk give the best chances.
