History & character.
Character
Der Unteruckersee liegt eingebettet in die hügelige Landschaft der Uckermark bei Prenzlau. Mit seiner Fläche von 10,4 km² und einer maximalen Tiefe von 18 m ist er einer der größten Seen Brandenburgs. Seine weiten Freiwasserflächen und naturbelassenen Ufer machen ihn zu einem erstklassigen Angelgewässer für Raubfischangler.
Water structure
Der Seegrund fällt vom Ufer zunächst flach ab und bildet ausgedehnte Flachwasserzonen mit Sandgrund, bevor es in die tieferen Bereiche übergeht. Markante Kanten in 3–6 m Tiefe sind die klassischen Zander-Strecken. Schilfgürtel am Ost- und Westufer bieten Hechtreviere, während im Freiwasser Maränen und Barsche zu finden sind.
Nature & history
Unter- und Oberuckersee sind durch die Ucker verbunden und bilden zusammen das Herzstück der Uckermärkischen Seenlandschaft. Archäologische Funde belegen eine Besiedlung seit der Steinzeit. Der See ist Teil des Naturparks Uckermärkische Seen und beherbergt Fischadler und Seeadler in den umliegenden Wäldern.

Water temperature rises slowly. Perch move into shallow bays, pike finish spawning. Best time: from mid-April along weed edges.
Summer
Warm and nutrient-rich. Predators bite early morning or evening. Night fishing for eel and catfish is most productive now.
Autumn
Pike and zander feed up for winter. Large soft swimbaits & a slow presentation get the big ones now.
Winter
Cold and clear. Target species in deeper troughs. Vertical jigging from the boat or a bottom rig at dusk give the best chances.
