Character
Der Liepnitzsee nördlich von Berlin bei Wandlitz ist ein idyllischer Waldsee mit einer Insel in der Mitte. Mit 1,2 km² und Tiefen bis 19 m bietet er trotz seiner geringen Größe überraschend gute Angelbedingungen. Das klare Wasser und die waldreiche Umgebung machen ihn zu einem der schönsten Seen im Berliner Umland.
Water structure
Der Liepnitzsee ist ein relativ tiefer Klarwassersee mit steil abfallenden Ufern und einer markanten Insel (Liepnitzinsel) im Zentrum. Der Grund ist sandig-kiesig, Krautbewuchs findet sich nur in der schmalen Flachwasserzone. Die Kanten rund um die Insel in 5–10 m Tiefe sind die besten Barschplätze. Hechte stehen in den Schilfbuchten am Südufer.
Nature & history
Der Liepnitzsee liegt in der Gemeinde Wandlitz – in der DDR bekannt als Wohnort der Politbürokratie in der „Waldsiedlung“. Die Insel im See war ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel für FDJ-Gruppen. Heute ist der See ein Naturidyll, das nur über einen kurzen Waldweg erreichbar ist. Die umliegenden Buchenwälder gehören zum Naturpark Barnim.

Water temperature rises slowly. Perch move into shallow bays, pike finish spawning. Best time: from mid-April along weed edges.
Summer
Warm and nutrient-rich. Predators bite early morning or evening. Night fishing for eel and catfish is most productive now.
Autumn
Pike and zander feed up for winter. Large soft swimbaits & a slow presentation get the big ones now.
Winter
Cold and clear. Target species in deeper troughs. Vertical jigging from the boat or a bottom rig at dusk give the best chances.
