History & character.
Character
Der Halensee ist ein kleiner, etwa 5,5 ha großer Stadtsee im Westen Berlins, eingebettet zwischen Stadtring (A100) und Kurfürstendamm. Er bildet zusammen mit Dianasee, Hubertussee, Königssee und Hundekehlesee die Wilmersdorfer Seenkette und ist ein typisches Beispiel für urbane Stadtnatur.
Water structure
Etwa 400 m lang, 200 m breit, maximale Tiefe rund 6 m. Steile Uferkanten am Westufer, flachere Schilfzonen am Süd- und Ostufer. Der See wird durch Grundwasser und Niederschlag gespeist, kein Zufluss.
Nature & history
Im 19. Jahrhundert war der Halensee Vergnügungspark mit Riesenrad und Lunapark – das berühmteste Volksvergnügen des wilhelminischen Berlins. Heute ist der See ein ruhiges Naherholungsgebiet, eingerahmt vom denkmalgeschützten Halenseeviertel.

Summer
Warm and nutrient-rich. Predators bite early morning or evening. Night fishing for eel and catfish is most productive now.
Autumn
Pike and zander feed up for winter. Large soft swimbaits & a slow presentation get the big ones now.
Winter
Cold and clear. Target species in deeper troughs. Vertical jigging from the boat or a bottom rig at dusk give the best chances.
