Character
Der Flughafensee ist ein 30,6 ha großes Kiesgrubengewässer nördlich des ehemaligen Flughafens Tegel im Bezirk Reinickendorf. Mit 34,3 m maximaler Tiefe ist er der tiefste See Berlins und entstand durch Kiesabbau zwischen 1953 und 1965.
Water structure
Etwa 800 m lang, 400 m breit. Sehr klares, oligotrophes Wasser durch die ehemalige Kiesabbau-Geologie. Steile Uferkanten, im Mittelbereich riesiges Tiefenloch (>30 m). Sehr klare Sichtweiten von 4–6 m – ungewöhnlich für Berlin.
Nature & history
Aufgrund der hohen Wasserqualität und sehr klaren Sicht ist der Flughafensee Berlins beliebtester Tauchsee. Der SFV Flughafensee bewirtschaftet das Gewässer seit den 1970ern als Vereinsgewässer mit strenger Hege und Pflege.

Water temperature rises slowly. Perch move into shallow bays, pike finish spawning. Best time: from mid-April along weed edges.
Summer
Warm and nutrient-rich. Predators bite early morning or evening. Night fishing for eel and catfish is most productive now.
Autumn
Pike and zander feed up for winter. Large soft swimbaits & a slow presentation get the big ones now.
Winter
Cold and clear. Target species in deeper troughs. Vertical jigging from the boat or a bottom rig at dusk give the best chances.
