2. Hosting
Hosted by Hostinger International Ltd. Server log files are stored automatically (IP address, timestamp, page accessed, browser). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
3. SSL Encryption
This site uses SSL encryption (indicated by "https://").
4. Cookies & Tracking
This website uses no tracking cookies and no analytics tools for anonymous browsing. For logged-in users, an encrypted session cookie is set to maintain the login session. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract).
5. Fonts
This website uses the "Inter" and "Material Symbols" typefaces. Font files are hosted locally on our server. No connection to Google servers takes place.
6. External Data Sources
The server retrieves data from Pegel-Online (WSV), BrightSky (DWD) and LAVB. These requests are made server-side – no personal data of visitors is transmitted.
When using the postcode search, a request is sent directly from your browser to BrightSky. Your IP address is transmitted to BrightSky in this process.
7. Map Display
The water map uses Leaflet.js with map tiles from OpenStreetMap. When the map loads, tile data is fetched from OpenStreetMap servers and your IP address is transmitted to the OpenStreetMap Foundation. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Further information: OpenStreetMap Privacy Policy.
8. User Account & Google Sign-In
You can optionally sign in with your Google account to use the digital catch log and favourites features. All content remains fully accessible without an account.
How sign-in works
Sign-in is handled via Google OAuth 2.0. When you click "Sign in with Google", you are redirected to Google, where you authorise access. Google then shares the following data with us:
- Email address – to uniquely identify your account
- Name (first and last) – for personalised display in your dashboard
- Profile picture URL – to display your avatar in the header
This data is stored in our database and used solely to provide the personalised services (catch log, favourites). We do not share it with third parties.
Legal basis: Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) given by clicking the sign-in button. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account (see section 10).
9. Catch Log & Location Data
When you log a catch as a signed-in user, we store the data you provide:
- Fish species, length (cm), weight (g)
- Date and time of catch
- Bait used
- GPS coordinates (latitude/longitude) – to display the catch on your personal map
- Weather data at the time of catch (temperature, wind speed, air pressure) automatically retrieved from BrightSky/DWD
- Free-text notes
Your control over visibility
You decide who can see your catch data. For each entry you can choose:
- Private – only you can see this catch (default)
- Public – visible to others in anonymised form (no name, no email)
Location data for public catches is displayed with rounded coordinates (approx. 1 km accuracy) to protect the exact catch spot. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent).
10. Your Rights
Access, rectification & further rights
You have the right to request access to the data we hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), restriction of processing (Art. 18), and to object to processing (Art. 21). Please contact us at: kontakt@brandenburg-angler.de
Right to erasure – "Right to be forgotten"
You can delete your account and all associated data (catch records, favourites, profile) at any time directly from your dashboard. Deletion takes effect immediately and permanently – we retain no copies.
Alternatively, you may request deletion by email at kontakt@brandenburg-angler.de. We will process your request within 30 days.
Right to lodge a complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.

This website participates in the Amazon EU Associates Programme. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in financing our free-of-charge service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). When you click an Amazon affiliate link and subsequently make a purchase, Amazon sets cookies to track the origin of the order — Amazon recognises that the purchase was initiated via a link on this website. We do not collect any personal data in this process. For more information on how Amazon processes your data, please refer to Amazon's Privacy Policy.
ADCELL (Firstlead GmbH)
This website participates in the affiliate programme of ADCELL (Firstlead GmbH, Rosenstraße 2, 10178 Berlin, Germany).
