Fishing Licence A (Fischereischein A)
Mandatory for all predator anglers. Requires a passed fishing exam. Costs around €34 for 5 years. Issued by the Berlin fisheries office (Fischereiamt Berlin).
Non-predator certificate (Friedfisch-Bescheinigung)
Berlin's entry-level option without an exam: allows non-predator fishing on all free waters. Available at the fisheries office and in tackle shops.
Water permits (DAV / VDSF)
Many Berlin waters also need a yearly or day permit. Find vendors via the permit finder.
Night fishing
Generally permitted in Berlin. Chasing eel on the Spree and Havel at night is a classic — especially in summer.
